Curcumin belongs to a group of amazing active compounds found within the turmeric root. It has long been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines. To get the full benefits of curcumin, however, it must come with the right support ingredients.
Since curcumin is fat-soluble, delivering it with a fat source (a healthy oil) makes it fully bioavailable to your body – giving you greater access to its many health benefits. Smarter Curcumin comes in a liquid veggie softgel with Black Seed Oil and other smart support ingredients for greater absorption and enhanced efficacy!*
Curcumin may play a role in reducing the processes of certain key inflammation-promoting enzymes in the body.* It may encourage comfort and flexibility without side effects, providing a natural option for the management of joint discomfort.* Athletes and weekend warriors alike are using it to help promote muscle recovery and joint health, too.

Okay, you now know that curcumin has some seriously impressive health benefits, but if you've been doing your homework, then you probably also know that curcumin ALONE is poorly absorbed by the body — making bioavailability a MAJOR issue. Bioavailability is the amount of a substance that actually enters your bloodstream so you get the health benefits you're looking for. Without it, you're just wasting your money.
Antioxidants play a role in helping to support healthy joints. The body uses antioxidants to defend cells against free radicals, which are unstable particles created as a byproduct of millions of chemical reactions in the body. They can cause oxidative stress and damage on a cellular level. When scientists examine the blood and joint fluid of patients experiencing joint discomfort, oftentimes they observe increased free radical activity and lower levels of antioxidants. Curcumin, a substance rich in antioxidants, may help to replenish antioxidant levels in the body.*
Curcumin, as a group of compounds naturally rich in antioxidants that help discourage free radical activity, which can damage cells and DNA and cause accelerated aging.* Since oxidative stress contributes to the appearance of most signs of aging, this makes curcumin a very appealing daily supplement for many aging adults.*
Your immune system is a network of various organs, tissues, and cells that work together to protect your body. Curcumin may support the normal function of the immune system by promoting balanced levels of acute-phase proteins and cortisol for homeostasis throughout the body.*
Keeping a heart healthy involves many factors, especially eating a nutritious diet and exercising routinely. Adding supplemental curcumin may offer additional benefits to support heart health.* Oxidized LDL (low-density lipoprotein) particles may produce inflammation in the cardiovascular system. The antioxidant effects of curcumin may encourage normal inflammation processes to support continued heart health.*
Curcumin may have a calming effect on the digestive system, encouraging relief from gas, bloating, and other stomach and bowel complaints.* As a unique compound with mechanisms that differ from those of probiotics or enzymes, it may have a naturally soothing effect on the gut, and discourage the overproduction of acid.*
The liver plays an important role in maintaining stability and balance in the body. The health of the liver may be directly impacted by oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory substances. Curcumin may encourage antioxidant defenses to facilitate the liver’s natural detoxification processes for ongoing balance.*
The connection between inflammation and cognitive health cannot be overstated. Curcumin’s potential to encourage reduced inflammatory processes indirectly supports brain health, as does its influence on a certain hormone that promotes neuron formation and discourages degenerative processes.*
We start with the most active form of curcumin available, standardized to 95% tetrahydrocurcuminoids. This premium curcumin is already pre-converted to the most easily absorbed form, so it goes to work in the body almost immediately.* All other forms of curcumin must be converted into active forms by the body before they can be utilized.
Powdered curcumin supplements (the type you see everywhere) are too difficult for the body to absorb on its own, making them essentially a waste of money. To make curcumin bioavailable, manufacturers need to either:
A. Heat it
B. Change its pH level, or
C. Use an oil-based delivery system.
Options A and B just aren't possible without killing the good stuff that curcumin is known for. And option C? Most supplement manufacturers simply don't have the technology to produce an oil-based curcumin supplement.
So why the oil? Since curcumin is fat-soluble, it has to be delivered with a fat source, so that you can absorb enough of it into your bloodstream to reap the health benefits. But when it comes to bioavailability, not just any fat will do. In fact, black cumin seed oil may have greater compatibility with curcumin than any other fat source.*
Have you ever heard the expression, “the sum is greater than its parts”? Another reason Smarter Curcumin works so well is because it's formulated with supporting ingredients that work synergistically to further increase its potency and benefits. They include:
Smarter Curcumin is not just different... it's better! We formulate our product with bioavailability and absorption in mind, which REQUIRES certain components that most curcumin brands don't include, or can't deliver:
✓ Sunflower Lecithin (non-GMO): Lecithin provides additional benefits for your heart and liver.* It's an essential nutrient required by the body, and is rich in choline and other essential fatty acids and phospholipids that we often don't get through diet alone.
✓ Ginger: Ginger provides added digestive support. It's also a close botanical relative to turmeric and has many overlapping nutrients and benefits. When the two are combined, they have positive effects on the body’s natural repair processes.*
✓ Astragulus and Ginseng: This proprietary combination of the herbs Panax notoginseng and Astragalus membranaceus, called AstraGin®, has been shown to increase nutrient absorption by 92%. †† Astragalus extract is derived from a plant with known applications for the support of various health aspects. Plus, it’s an adaptogen, meaning it encourages the balance of cortisol levels when the body experiences stress.*
